Climate Change Hub invites faculty applications for new or updated courses addressing climate change

The Gerard J. Mangone Climate Change Science and Policy Hub is awarding grants of $5,000, $2,500 or $500 to University of Delaware faculty creating or modifying courses to include content on climate change. Applications are due by April 1.

The Climate Change Hub (CCH) will select course proposals that form a well-rounded cluster of course offerings at both the undergraduate and graduate level with the goal of ultimately proposing a graduate and undergraduate Climate Essentials Certificate. If students take the entire suite of courses, they will demonstrate a broad understanding of climate change including the social impacts and current policies. We also expect students will explore creative solutions and ways to lead in times of great change.

The award amounts correspond to three kinds of applications. Successful applications to develop a new climate change-related course will receive $5,000. For revisions to an existing course to include updated climate change information, the grant is $2,500. And the $500 mini-grant is to design and integrate climate change learning activities into an existing undergraduate or graduate course.

Depending on the type of grant, applications must include a letter of recommendation from the faculty member’s department chair, any existing syllabus, and/or a description of the proposed course, activity or enhancement. More information and the application form are available on the Education page of the CCH website at udel.edu/climatechangehub.
