Climate Change Course Development Grants – 2023

The Climate Change Hub (CCH) is pleased to announce a second round of funding for climate change course revisions and enhancements. All UD faculty are eligible to apply. A letter of support from the applicant’s Department Chair is required at the time of submission. Proposals will be reviewed by a panel with the purpose of developing a well-rounded selection and advancing UD’s climate curriculum goals. Funding is extremely limited for this second round of funding. Applicants should clearly articulate how the proposed revisions will advance climate change education at UD. All funding must be spent by December 31, 2023.

Grants for New and Revised Climate Change Related Courses:

Course development grants provide $2500 or $5000 to revise or create Climate Change related courses. The Climate Hub continues to (1) identify areas for growth in climate-related curricula that reach a wider audience of undergraduate and graduate students (in pursuit of an ultimate goal where every student at UD receives some education on climate change), (2) build clusters of course offerings that provide undergraduate and graduate students with a broad education on the physical science, social science, engineering, humanities, and policy aspects of climate change, and (3) scaffold sequences of courses that build deep knowledge and expertise in particular aspects of climate science and solutions.  Courses are also needed to help students explore creative solutions and ways to lead in times of great change.

Mini-Grants for Climate Change Course Enhancements

Mini-grants provide up to $500 to support the design and integration of climate change learning activities into an existing undergraduate course with at least ten enrolled students. The design of climate change related classroom activities represents an important integration of timely topics into classroom education.

We expect that faculty who receive educational grants will present on their work at the Spring 2024 UD Climate Change Education Workshop and share their ideas with colleagues through the Hub educational resources archives and Canvas modules.

The Hub may ask the applicant to respond to additional questions before final award notifications are shared. Please use this form to apply. In the next section you will select which opportunity you are applying for followed by more detailed information about your proposal.
