Information Session for Students interested in the Human Services major; 2/13/23

Join us to learn more about UD’s Human Services major! Human Services (HS) majors develop the skills necessary to make a difference in the lives of children, adolescents, adults, and families. HS grads can work in a variety of settings including non-profit organizations, schools, hospitals, community programs, legal aid, and advocacy organizations, where they can have a positive impact in fields such as youth development, disabilities, race relations, juvenile justice, substance abuse prevention, and domestic violence prevention.

If this is of interest to you, join us on Monday, Feb. 13, during Common Hour (12:25pm-1:15pm) to find out more. 

  • Wilmington students can attend in person in CEB Room 928.

1743 Welcome Days: AAP students starting in Newark this Spring 2023 Semester

The Office of Orientation and Transition Programs will be providing several orientation events on the Newark campus during the first week of the Spring 2023 semester.  These events, called 1743 Welcome Days, are offered to all students who will be studying at the Newark campus for the first time!  Some of the events include campus tours, an Involvement Fair, wellness workshops, athletic events, and more.  You are encouraged to review the options that are available and participate in the events that will benefit you!

Self-Care Common Hour Guest Speaker, 12/8!

Join us for a Self-Care special event with guest speaker, Kathleen Arban LCSW-C, a licensed Social Worker and Clinical Assistant Professor who will host a virtual common hour event to promote self-care, mindfulness, and meditation as you prepare for finals week!

With the stress of the end of the semester and the looming finals week ahead, join us for an inspirational session to help you relax leading into finals week!

UDance Dance Marathon B+ Hero Holiday Party

UDance Dance Marathon is a student-run philanthropy at the University of Delaware that raises funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, with our local beneficiary, The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation – a non-profit founded in Delaware that provides financial assistance to the families of children who are battling childhood cancer. Since its inception in 2007, UDance has raised $16.5 million to help the 46 children that will be diagnosed with childhood cancer by the end of today. 

Make a fundraising page! Any amount helps! $3 could go towards a coffee of a family who has been in the hospital room all night with their crying child who is in agonizing pain from their Chemo treatments. 

If you are looking to get more involved, we have a very special event coming up! 

  • B+ Hero Holiday Party! 
    • What: A holiday celebration with our B+ Heroes who are children that are battling childhood cancer (Games, food, gingerbread houses, talent show) 
    • When: Sunday December 4th, 1-3 pm
    • Where: Perkins Student Center (325 Academy St, Newark, DE 19716)
    • Why: We have the opportunity to create amazing memories for children who have been things that most individuals cannot even begin to imagine! Let’s create a winter wonderland for these amazing kids!

Upcoming Panel Event with the Washington D.C. Homeland Security & Emergency Management Agency

The International Association of Emergency Managers @ UD (under the Disaster Research Center) is inviting UD students to attend an upcoming panel event with the Washington D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (DC HSEMA) on Monday, November 7th, from 1:30 – 3 PM ET. The free and public panel will discuss their experiences with the January 6th Insurrection and answer any other questions regarding emergency management in the District during the Q&A. 

The event will be hosted at the UD Emergency Operations Center on-campus (222 South Chaple Stree) and offer a Zoom option for folks living or working off campus.
