South African Safari

Submitted by Danielle Lumpkin on the 2018 winter session program in South Africa sponsored by the Department of Behavioral Health & Nutrition…

This week we went on safari. We saw so many animals from giraffes and impalas to elephants and lions. We also learned the importance in sustaining the environment as everything we do affects everything else in nature. It was amazing to be able to get so close to the animals and see them in their natural environment. We even got a sneak peak into the circle of life as we saw hyenas kill and eat an impala. It was sad, but also awe inspiring to be able to see something so natural right in front of our eyes. I loved the safari and hope to be able to go on another some day.
