Agronomic Insect Scouting

Soybean
Defoliator populations appear to be quite low. In last week’s scouting video, we were in a field near green stink bug threshold, but the beans were at R2. This week, many fewer of those stink bugs were found. What gives? I’m not entirely sure, the adults have wings and will move through the canopy both horizontally and vertically within the canopy. It is possible for up to 40% of stink bugs to physically be too low in the canopy to be picked up by sweep note. This week, a new soybean scouting video has been posed to our website: https://youtu.be/CrxEWzQpc54.
