Frequently Requested Documents and Services
Certificates of Insurance
Vendors and contractors doing business with the University or organizations using University premises or facilities should carry their own insurance to protect their own interests from allegations of bodily injury or property damage liability caused by their own negligence.
Certificates of insurance, which provide evidence that such coverage is in place, should be requested from all entities before engaging their services or permitting them to use University premises or facilities. The University of Delaware should be listed as an additional insured on the certificate.
Entities with which University departments do business may sometimes request such proof of University insurance coverage. To request a Certificate of Insurance, complete the Request for Certificate of Insurance Form.
Allow 10 days for the certificate to be obtained and sent back to you.
Contract Review
The Risk Management Department should review all contracts that may present a risk of accidental injury or loss to the University focusing on provisions relating to insurance provisions. Reviews may include consultation with the General Counsel.
Please submit the entire contract through UD Exchange/ Contracts +. If you do not have access to Contracts +, please send an email to riskmanagement@udel.edu to request a contract review. Include a narrative of the scope of work, the required timeframe of review and attach the entire contract.

The University of Delaware must be the certificate holder and an additional insured on the policy and this coverage must be evidenced by a certificate of insurance and the applicable additional insured endorsement. The certificate must also document that this insurance provides primary and non-contributory coverage for the University for claims arising out of the chapters’ actions. Failure to retain a current COI and endorsement on file may result in sanctions through Fraternity and Sorority Leadership and Learning/ Student Life.
