My Dream Job: Photography

aruba
For my dream job I would love to be a photographer working anywhere I need to be. If I had an office I would prefer it either be at home or close to home so editing photos wouldn’t take me forever to get to the office. I would also be willing to relocate for bigger and better opportunities for example if a singer or band asked me to go on tour with them and be their photographer I would love to do something like that.

I would rather a schedule that varies and can be somewhat spontaneous, but it doesn’t have to be. If I had to put down a max of hours I would be okay working with it would probably be close to 40 hours. With my personality, I would be okay in any environment whether it be professional or playful and laid back. Having freedoms would be ideal as well. Since photography deals with being artistic and being able to communicate with people, those are skills I would want to and have to apply while on the job. I want to be seen as an incredible photographer that could be inspirational to others. I love working with people and would rather not be stuck in an office isolated from everyone.

The industry I am most interested in is the photography industry in general. I have no come across any company that I like more than the others, but I hope to have my own business and be on my own schedule the way I would like it to go. As far as salaries go, I feel that around fifty thousand dollars at least a year would be pretty fantastic to have. Now if I am comfortable with a certain way I am living and it happens to be less that that a year, then that’s okay too. I think it is really important to not be money hungry, but to be just comfortable with the way you are living with the job you have and the money you make while working for your dream job.

Intended Major Linked With My Skill Set & Career Goals

While reviewing my Strong Interest Survey I found that my strongest section was for Social including people, teamwork, helping, and community service. Since I plan on majoring in Psychology Education this will work well with my skills because I have to be around people and be able to help them. I feel that being a teacher will be a strong suite for me because I love helping people and I have always been a great help in high school to my teachers.

My second highest skill was the Artistic part which involves self-expression, art appreciation, communication, and culture. When I began high school, I quickly realized that I had an extremely strong passion for photography. At the time and even now, that is what I truly had wanted to and still want to do. I love taking pictures so having artistic as my second highest skill was no surprise to me at all. Later on in high school I took more art classes and was constantly helping out in class when people were needing assistance. My art teachers brought it to my attention that I would make an amazing teacher because I would always want to help out in class when they needed me to assist others.

With becoming a teacher my top two skills are perfect for what I plan on doing for my major. I plan on majoring in Psychology Education and a possible minor in History and Art. I would like to be a Psychology Teacher and on the side be able to do some art, but mainly photography. This way I can incorporate both of those skills into my career and be happy about what I choose to do. Having good communication skills are extremely important when becoming a teacher because you constantly have to be communicating with not only students, but other faculty and co workers as well.
