New Student Convocation 2010Welcome! Whether we say it in English, Spanish (Bienvenidos), Mandarin Chinese (Ni hao)), Hindi (Swaa-gat hai), or Swedish (Valkommen – did you know Delaware was founded by people from Sweden?) or Gaelic (Failte), we offer you a warm welcome to the University Studies Program at the University of Delaware.

We hope that today, your first one on campus as an official Blue Hen, is an exciting and memorable one.  We also hope that it’s fun – you may meet some of the best friends you’ll ever have, future dorm and classmates and students who might be in your Freshman Seminar (FYS).  You could be sitting next to some people you attend Activities Night with the first week of school, checking out some of UD’s 270+ student organizations – everything from Outing Club (kayaking, white water rafting, backpacking anyone?) to Slow Foods on Campus or P.R.O.U.D. – Puppy Raisers of the University of Delaware.

As for your academic life, it too begins today. One of the most important parts of this orientation day will be your scheduled appointment with your Academic Advisor.  You will meet one-on-one for half an hour, get acquainted, and choose your classes for your first semester.  Be sure to be on time for this important meeting, and don’t forget to take along the completed advisement worksheet that you received via mail in early June.

The next chapter in your life begins now.  We are pleased your new school colors are Delaware Blue and Gold.  Wear them proudly! And once again, welcome to UST!
