Regular Weekly Events

This is a partial list of on going events of value to educators. Please check the calendars page for other events. I can not list them all here. Second Life is reach with opportunities to connect with hundreds of others like your self, using SL as tool for teaching or just starting out. Get out there, see what’s happening, share ideas make connections. But be sure to go exploring the other non-educational sims. They will give you the opportunity to see the possibilities.

The Alliance Virtual library Calendar of Events:
The Alliance Library is very active with something going on every day of the week often with mutiple events in a day.  Check out their calendar to see if there is anything of interest to you our your students.  Librarians from all over the world voluteer their time here to help you find what you are looking for in the Metaverse.
Alexandrian Free Library Events
Alexandrian Free Library (libraries of Caledon, Steelhead, Winterfell, New Toulouse, New Babbage, Amatsu Shima, & West of Ireland) offer something of interest every day of the week. Sometimes they are on going curated exhibits, live poetry and book readings, Radio Theatre, and creative writing. There is always something wonderful going on in this library system. Have a look at their calendar and go check them out.

    This group meets every Tues to discuss and demo. tools that educators can use in the SL classroom. They also host guest speakers who discuss many other aspects of virual worlds  that educators will find extreamly useful as well as tool creators who are interested in your feedback.

  • The First Question Quiz Show Live

  • Ask an Astronomer
    An astronomer or astronomers will be present so you can ask them questions about astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, etc. All are welcome! This event series is organized by the Meta Institute for Computational Astrophysics (MICA).

  • Science Friday (Yes the NPR Radio Show) at Science Friday
    National Public Radio’s Talk of the Nation radio program. SciFri is hosted by Ira Flatow with Joe Palca stepping in when Flatow is away. The focus of each two-hour program is nature, science, and technology and the news and information.Science Friday is a weekly call-in talk show that is part of !
