In the past few years, students, faculty and staff at the University of Delaware have been more engaged in politics than ever. In the 2008 Presidential election, not only was the Democrat candidate for vice president a Delaware alumnus, but both presidential campaigns were run by UD alumni as well. Steve Schmidt led Senator John McCain’s campaign, while Barack Obama’s winning campaign was managed by David Plouffe. Both were political science students at Delaware.
