Wilmington Animal Hospital, in Wilmington DE, is looking for veterinary assistants and veterinary technicians.  Full or part-time work is available for students looking to get hands-on experience with the ability to work hard as part of a team. Wilmington Animal Hospital is a 5 doctor practice and uses the team approach to medical care.  We offer ultrasound and surgery services with board-certified veterinarians.  We believe in education and training for our staff and have employed many pre-vet students over the years.  We have biweekly staff meetings, a bonus structure, and provide snacks! FMC is accepting internship applications for a Global Field Biology Precision Agriculture Intern.


Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Station Manager and Research Station Biologists to support laboratory, greenhouse, and field research
  • Assist in establishing field trials including area planning, planting, maintenance, and scouting to ensure delivery of high-quality trials
  • Coordinate and support Precision Agriculture imaging and data analysis projects in the field and report findings to the larger team
  • Collaborate with the Research Station team to input data and prepare timely trial reports which describe observations and results
  • Provide trial specific support including maintenance, treatment applications, data collection, and harvesting
  • Following training and with guidance, operate trial and farm equipment and machinery including drones, research sprayers, tractors, and others as necessary
  • Provide support as needed to the Agricultural Research Station to ensure the facilities and equipment are in safe working order and all operations meet the standards set forth by the Corporate and Global R&D organization

Qualifications:

  • Must be an active, or recently, graduated undergraduate or graduate student
  • Experience in scientific/operations under laboratory/field conditions is of value
  • Interest in agriculture/biological engineering, agriculture, plant and pest biology, and crop management
  • Working knowledge of agronomic row crops is of value
  • Experience, training, and/or certification in drone flying and imagery is of significant value
  • Strong organization skills and close attention to detail
  • Speaking, writing, and computer skills
  • Ability to manage time and priorities in an independent work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and collaborative cooperation

The Assistant Gardener’s responsibilities include:

  • Annual flower installation and maintenance (beds and containers)
  • Installation and maintenance of herbaceous and woody plants
  • Mulching, weeding, and pruning
  • Composting
  • Assisting with integrated pest management

Job Requirements:

Work both as a team member or independently, do physical work including bending, stooping, climbing a ladder, be able to lift 50 lbs., and work in varying weather conditions (heat and light rain).  The work schedule includes some weekends during the peak season, and exposure to biting insects and poison ivy can occur.  A degree in horticulture, landscape design, or work experience in this area is a benefit.

Aronimink Golf Club is a private country club located in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.  It ranks as one of the top one hundred courses in the United States, and has hosted seven major tournaments.  The grounds are comprised of 300 acres including a historic clubhouse, tennis and fitness center, and pool house.  The Greens department, which oversees the course and landscaped areas, is housed in a newly designed, state of the art, facility.
