REACH Riverside is seeking dedicated, hands-on individuals for our 11-week FED-UP (Food Equity Delivers Unlimited Potential) Healthy Food Access Internship. Join our mission to combat food insecurity in northeast Wilmington, DE through our innovative network of food pantries, community refrigerators, hydroponic farming, and garden initiatives. What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement growing schedules for summer and fall crops in the Community Garden and other farm plots
  • Assist FED-UP team in garden upkeep and maintenance, including planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting
  • Learn key skills to maintain the hydroponic farm (The Greenery)
  • Complete all tasks associated with The Greenery, including hydroponic system management, seed sowing, transplanting, pest scouting, pruning, harvesting, and cleaning, with limited oversight
  • Assist with food pantry inventory management and stocking
  • Help pantry clients navigate paperwork and food resources

What We’re Looking For – Education and Experience

  • Currently pursuing a 2-year or 4-year degree in sustainable food systems, horticulture, agriculture, sustainability, nutrition, or related field
  • Previous hydroponics, gardening and/or farming experience preferred
    Skills and Attributes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be communicative and proactive, and can manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to work outside for long periods in potentially hot or inclement weather
    Work Environment and Requirements

Work Environment and Requirements

  • Schedule: Full-time, primarily Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with occasional after-hours or weekend work.
  • Travel: Primarily local during the business day
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, use technology, lift 25 pounds consistently. Ability to stand, crouch, and bend for long periods of time
