PLSC151010: Introduction to Crop Science (3 credit)

The goal of this course is to learn the foundations of crop science. After taking this course, students should understand the following: basic structure of plants; plant processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, and the environmental factors that affect plant growth; the classification of major agronomic crop groups; introduction to cropping systems and agroecosystems; and an introduction to agronomic management such as tillage, weed management, plant disease and pest management, irrigation, and harvesting.
