Alumnus Discussion and Networking Opportunity – Dr. Bernie Murphy

On November 14&15, 2016 CANR Distinguished Alumni Awardee (2013) and CANR Advisory Council member, Dr. Bernie Murphy will be on campus to meet with undergraduate and graduate students, as well as various CANR faculty.

If any students are interested in speaking with Dr. Murphy one on one, to discuss careers in the ag industry, resume/interview skills, research, etc., he will have open office hours in 107 Townsend Hall from 1:30pm-2:30pm and 4:45pm-5:30pm on Monday, November 14. There are no set times. Please stop by if you would like to speak with him about your work, career path, feedback, ideas, etc.

As President and CEO of the Jones-Hamilton Company, Dr. Murphy’s experience and network throughout the entire agricultural industry is extremely vast, making a discussion with him applicable across a variety of CANR program areas.  Please take advantage of this unique opportunity to sit down and talk with one of our distinguished alumni!

BIO – Dr. Murphy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from UD in 1975. He then went on to earn his Master of Science degree in Poultry Science from the University of Arkansas in 1978 and a Ph.D. in Poultry Products and Meat Science in 1986 from Iowa State University.  Dr. Murphy has experienced a diverse career path, closely aligned with the poultry industry having managed business related to nutrition, primary genetics, processing, food safety, and air quality. He currently serves as President of the Jones-Hamilton Company (http://www.joneshamiltonag.com/).  Jones-Hamilton has been a leader in producing, packaging and distributing chemicals and compounds for a variety of customers and end users since 1951.  He has been instrumental in the development and ongoing support of the Jones-Hamilton Co. Environmental Research Poultry Facility at the University of Delaware’s Georgetown, DE campus.
