If you have reason to believe that confidential University information or confidential personally identifiable information (PII) has been viewed or taken, contact secadmin@udel.edu or your college’s or department’s IT staff so an investigation of the incident can begin immediately. If the investigation confirms that sensitive information has been exposed or taken, you must abide by the University’s breach notification procedures.

Confidential Personally Identifiable Information (Confidential PII) – An individual’s first name or first initial and last name in combination with any of the following:

  • Social Security Number
  • Driver’s license number or state-issued ID card number
  • Alien registration or government passport number
  • Account number, or credit or debit card number, in combination with any required security code, access code, PIN or password needed to access an account.

Stored confidential PII and EPHI ordinarily must be encrypted with strong encryption keys. For more information, see the UD encryption help pages.
