Welcome to the new Blue Hen Sports Cage website. We have completely revamped our online presence, with our newly designed website and social media graphics. The overhaul coincides with “season two” of Blue Hen Sports Cage, which begins this summer and extends into the next academic year.
We are excited to announce Jake Lampert as our newest full-time member. Jake will help co-host the show, and provide his take on all things Delaware athletics, baseball, football and basketball. In addition, Teddy Gelman, Ahmed Qadri and Brandon Holveck will all return for year two.
Blue Hen Sports Cage is the flagship sports talk radio show for 91.3 WVUD FM Newark. The show features discussions on collegiate and national sports, with a special focus on Delaware athletics. “The Cage” welcomes many guests throughout the year from the local and national sports scenes. Past guests include, Delaware athletic director Chrissi Rawak, football head coach Danny Rocco, men’s basketball head coach Martin Ingelsby and New York Times best-selling author Jeff Pearlman.
The name Blue Hen Sports Cage has been used by radio shows at WVUD dating back to the 1990s. The show has come and gone over the years, with a variety of hosts and formats. The current iteration of Blue Hen Sports Cage began September 1st, 2016. In the first year of Blue Hen Sports Cage, Teddy Gelman, Ahmed Qadri and Brandon Holveck served as the full-time hosts. Other WVUD Sports department members also made appearances including, Mike Baumohl, Eric Allen, Jake Lampert and Nick Cannella.
In year two, we plan on expanding our online presence to continue to grow the show’s following. Be on the lookout for behind-the-scenes Facebook Live and Periscope streams as well as more exclusive content on Twitter and Instagram. Our new website has improved podcasting functionality, to make listening on demand much easier. The podcast version of our show will be available on iTunes and other podcast websites.
