Can I forward my calls from my office phone to another phone?

Yes. You can forward your calls to any other phone, on or off campus. Instructions on how to call forward differ depending on the model of phone. Please refer to the appropriate reference guide for instructions on how to do this: Please keep in mind that if you are forwarding your calls to an off campus number, you must put a 9 in front of the number. If you do not have access to your phone, please submit a Request for Service form and we can activate it for you.

I depend on voice mail when I’m not at my desk or am working from home or another office.  Can I access my voice mail from another location?

Yes, voice mail is accessible from other locations by dialing (302) 831-7000. You will be asked for your “ID,” which is your 7-digit phone number and then your PIN. You will then be able to listen to your messages.

How do I activate the feature for my voice mail to be sent to my e-mail account as a .wav file?

To activate the feature for your voice mail messages to be sent to your e-mail account as a .wav file, you must fill out a Request for Service form.

How do I dial off-campus?

To dial an off-campus number, dial 9 then the full phone number (including 1 and area code).

To dial on-campus, just dial the last 4 digits of the phone number.

 Is there a shortcut to access my voice mail?

Yes. The shortcut to access your voice mail is the character string *VM (or *86). You must be using your own VoIP phone on campus or another campus VoIP phone for this shortcut to work.

What is the line cost?

The line cost is $15.00 per month.

Will there be phone training provided?

Individual departmental training can be requested by submitting a Request for Service form. Arrangements for a Telephone Services staff member will be scheduled to come on site and provide personalized training for your department. There is no charge for this service.

How does conference calling work?

If you would like to initiate a conference call from your office phone, a total of three (for the basic 3905 or cordless model) or six (all other models) people can participate on a conference call (both internal and external).  If your total exceeds those numbers, you can initiate a conference call through Zoom.  For instructions on how to place a conference call or how to set up a Zoom conference calling account, please go to our conference calling page at

What do I do if I forgot my PIN?

If you need a voice mailbox reset or reinitialized, you need to submit a Request for Service form.

Why is a purpose code needed to submit all requests?

When using our online Request for Service form, you will notice that the Purpose Code field is mandatory. This does not mean that you will be charged.  We require it to process all requests.

Can I move my phone from one location to another myself, or does a technician need to do it? 

You can move VoIP phones yourself. Just unplug it and plug it into the new network port. Just make sure that it is an active port. If it’s not active, you must submit a request to have it activated, and charges would apply.

Cordless phones – If you are moving a cordless phone, you must submit a request prior to moving the phone.  We would need to know the port number of the new port in order to update the vlan settings. It will NOT work otherwise.

Faxes – If you are moving a fax machine, you would need to submit a request, as a technician would need to be dispatched, and charges would apply.

What do I do with my phone if my service has been disconnected?

 The phone is the property of the department. Speak with your manager to see what they would like to do with the phone.
