Meet the Officers
Meet the people who organize The Swing Club at UD. As board members, these individuals make up the core of teachers and DJ’s for the club. And that doesn’t include everything they do behind the scenes!
Oh, and don’t forget to ask them to dance.
Kate Holden is a senior Mass Media Communications major with a theatre performance minor. After just a few weeks of swing dancing, Kate traveled to Philadelphia to compete in her first competition. Ever since, Kate has been hooked on traveling to new scenes, meeting new dancers, and making every environment inclusive and fun. Both in and out of Swing Club, Kate is always looking to build new friendships (and she bakes some bomb cookies).
Jessica Pigeon is a junior Psychology major with minors in Cognitive Science and Human Development-Family Sciences. She fell in love with dancing when she saw the club dancing outside Perkins in the moonlight and wanted to feel as happy as they looked. In her free time, she reads fantasy and looks up pictures of cats to send to her friends. Jess loves the friendly community that Swing Club created and is looking to continue that tradition.
Amy is a sophomore Anthropology major and Museum Studies minor, fascinated by pre-Columbian archaeology and Malaysian ethnography. Although music, both jazz and classical, has been a dominating feature in her life for more than 12 years, the first time she dared to dance to it was the first week of her freshman year at the Swing Club! Amy has since thrown herself into the world of swing. As PR, she wants to bring as many people into the club as possible and ensure that no one is left on the edge of the dance floor!
Connor is, if his math is right, a junior English major who also has a minor in history. When he not getting himself lost or tripping upstairs, he is reading Sci-Fi novels, and sometimes novels on how not to trip up on stairs. He just discovered swing last year but he is already deeply in love with both the music and the community. He always does his best to make sure he doesn’t miss any Friday night dances, because they are always the highlight of his week! Probably because it doesn’t involve stairs or directions.
Teddy is a junior double major in Physics and Computer engineering with minors in Cybersecurity and Computer Science. When he is not dancing, he closely studies JPEGs and infiltrates group chats with pictures of ducks. Theo got involved with swing dance during his first year in college after being introduced to it in high school. Enjoys the dance, the community, and the people and is excited to serve you this year.
