CAMPUS ACTION | GREEN ROOFS
UD is committed to installing green roofs as part of its dedication to a more sustainable future. Over the last decade, UD has installed three green roofs at Colburn Lab, Harker Lab, and Caesar Rodney Residential Complex.
Green roofs provide many environmental and social benefits, especially in urban areas where impermeable surfaces and unsightly rooftops dominate. Green roofs capture and manages storm-water, reduce the “heat island effect”, prevent and reduce air pollution, extend the life of rooftops, provide heating and cooling effects for the building, presents an attractive, beneficial alternative to traditional rooftop, attracts wildlife, and reduces noise pollution. Learn more about green roofs from the UD Cooperative Extension.
