FACULTY COURSE DEVELOPMENT
2023 Summer Faculty Course Development Oppourtunities
The Office of Sustainability (OS) and the Center for Teaching and Assessment of Learning (CTAL) are happy to partner in Summer of 2023 to advance sustainability focused or inclusive courses. We are dedicating 5 spaces of CTAL’s annual Course Design Institute to focus on sustainability. This 3 ½ day institute will provide a personalized course design experience where faculty will be supported by CTAL (along with their colleagues) to create a new course or revise an existing one. The OS will provide an additional $500 for each of the 5 sustainability focused faculty members to continue to work on this course development over the summer and participate in team discussions. During the CTAL program, participants create:
- New or revised student learning outcomes (SLOs) that focus on sustainability
- A major final assignment/exam that emerges from those SLOs
- A plan for including learning activities that prepare students for your major assignment or exam
- Create an inclusive syllabus based on the UD Syllabus tool
The institute will take place each day from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. for days 1-3 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, June 6-8). The 4th day (Friday, June 9) will be 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. We’ll provide coffee and a light breakfast each day, as well as lunch on the first three full days. All participants are expected to attend the complete program, and will receive a formal letter documenting their participation. The Office of Sustainability will meet with the 5 faculty ~biweekly over the summer to discuss progress. Deadline to register is 5:00 pm April 21st and can be found here: https://delaware.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6ijY0iHSoS60Fgi
