Achievement Recognition Event – September 29, 2024 – Tickets available NOW!

The Achievement Recognition Event is an opportunity to applaud 4-H members who excelled in project work, leadership, citizenship, judging, and achievement. On Sunday, September 29, Sussex 4-H will present awards and scholarships to these outstanding youth! A catered dinner will be served this year!

Diamond Clover Award – 2024-25 Intent Forms DUE November 27, 2024
Delaware 4-H members are eligible to participate in the Diamond Clover Award program. Delaware 4-H adopted the Diamond Clover Award in 2011 from a program used in Maryland and Nebraska. This award will be the highest level of recognition that a Delaware 4-H member can achieve. It is similar to the Boy Scout Eagle Award or the Girl Scout Gold Award. The Diamond Clover Award consists of six levels, each steadily advancing in intensity and achievement over the last. It is intended to take a 4-H member six years to complete. The nice thing about this award is that many 4-H members are already doing the work, so all you need to do is fill out the forms and submit them. For other 4-H members, this award can provide you with a long-term challenge for your 4-H career. Either way, when you have finished the process you have completed an amazing journey that will benefit you forever. Delaware 4-H Foundation – Club/Group Financial Aid Form
The Delaware 4-H Foundation is a non-profit organization supporting the 4-H program. Financial Support Requests will be accepted twice a fiscal year: March 1 and October 1
The applications will be reviewed and awarded at the discretion of the Board of Directors. The form (on the next page) must be submitted electronically to de4h@udel.edu. Notification of the receipt of the request will be confirmed within 72 hours to the contact person named on the request. Once a decision has been made, the contact person will be notified of the Board’s decision.

Delaware Coastal Cleanup – September 14, 2024
Volunteers for the 37th Annual Delaware Coastal Cleanup have two options to help keep the state’s beaches and waterways free of trash — join the cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 14, or take part in a month-long, statewide cleanup campaign.
For both efforts, volunteers will report the results of their efforts and add to a growing database of information about trash cleaned from our beaches, communities, natural areas, parks, and other public spaces.
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is hosting a one-day cleanup event more than 40 sites statewide from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Delaware State Fair Junior Board Now Accepting Applications until September 27, 2024
The purpose of the Junior Board is to develop leadership and interpersonal skills of youth and to expand the Delaware State Fair’s volunteer base while increasing visibility and impact of the Fair. The Junior Board consists of 12 members – four from each Delaware county. If the Delaware State Fair is unable to recruit four from each county, it may solicit additional members from another county.
This opportunity to serve is available to youth ages 16-21 (as of 10/31/24) and once appointed, the term of office is for two (2) years. Members are required to contribute a minimum of 30 volunteer hours before and during the Fair. The purpose of the Junior Board is to develop leadership and interpersonal skills as well as expose youth to the many facets of The Delaware State Fair. The application period is now open through September 27, 2024. In mid-October, the Junior Board Committee will interview applicants. Erik Ervin named Interim Associate Dean and Interim Director of UD Cooperative Extension
The University of Delaware College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) has selected faculty member Erik Ervin to lead UD Cooperative Extension, which brings University knowledge, research and resources to the people of Delaware. Ervin will serve as interim associate dean and interim director for a one-year term. See article below for more information!
