Sussex County 4-H hosted its fourth Experience Extension Day Camp June 27-July 1 at the Carvel Research and Education Center. 12 youth ages 11-14 were in attendance. Campers got to experience all extension has to offer including lessons on Horticulture, Poultry, Health, Entomology, Agriculture and of course 4-H! We look forward to preparing for next year’s camp with many more exciting activities and opportunities! Thank you to our county Extension staff as well as our 4-H counselors who helped make the camp run smooth: Dakota Carmona, Diamond Carmona, Alyssa Carpenter, Ruby DiSabatino, Ashlyn Elliott and Austin Jewell.

Sussex 4-H Day Camp was another success. “Down on the Farm” was our camp theme and throughout the week our 50 campers got to explore all different areas of 4-H; from Food Class and Science to Recreation and Arts and Crafts, the youth involved were engaged in many activities. In addition to these classes, campers got to hear from many visitors during assemblies including learning Zumba with Ms. Dee, visits from the Alternate Dairy Princess, Avery Kerrick and Watermelon Queen, Jenna Anger and learning about Fire Safety and how K9’s are used from Fire Marshall Mike and his dog, PJ.
Campers ended the week with a traditional Council Circle where they sang songs and performed group skits for their parents. Thank you to our assembly presenters as well as our counselors and counselors in training (CIT’s) who worked very hard to make this camp such a success: Ashlyn Elliott, Kyle Kerr, Carter Bradley, Ruby DiSabatino, Ainsley West, Austin Jewell, Alyssa Carpenter, Sam Gossett, Cole Carpenter, Ashley Adams, Janet Shultie, Demetreus Moutzalias and Declan West.
