Hollymount – Gianna Joella, Reporter
We began Hollymount’s November 2020 meeting discussing some of our old business, like now-open re-enrollment and the MARS Rover project some of our members completed. We also learned that a few of our members won prizes in the Pumpkin Contest- congratulations! We also discussed our new business, like the food drive, stocking stuffing event, International Foods Dinner, and the card party for heroes (my personal favorite event). We certainly have some exciting events approaching, and this meeting was very informative on what they entail!

Bridgeville Mustangs – Alyssa Carpenter, Reporter
We ended October with decorated pumpkins and wicked witches, 
and brought in November with heavy rains, and ZOOM meeting glitches!

At the Mustangs monthly meeting we enjoyed Juliette & Kyles “Fried Ham” Song,
and Cameron’s report on “Eye Strain Prevention, Right & Wrong”.

Abby had fun making Halloween inspired crafts,
and shared leadership skills that she learned from the Links Staff.

Many fellow club members helped with the counties’ canned food drive,
and Cameron told us how STEM helped a robot “Come Alive”.

On Zoom, Rylan & Quinn serenaded us with “Deck the Halls”
as Miss Holly showed us how to accessorize Christmas tree balls.

In late November, as we pack shoeboxes and create heroes cards,
we should remember to “always be thankful in our hearts”.

Lord Baltimore – Ruby DiSabatino, Reporter
This month’s club meeting was a little different than usual. We divided the club in half, so we could meet in person with social distancing. Miss Kathy shared info from the leaders meeting. She was excited to tell us that our club collected the most cans for Sussex county, and got a $25 amazon gift card. Miss Kathy was also proud of all the items for Stockings for Soldiers. Then we worked through 4 stations:

1- We used measuring cups and practiced measuring ingredients while making our trail mix.

2- We made 2 tin punch ornaments out of old canning lids. Then, we spray painted them. We’ll be able to enter these in the state fair.

3- With donated wood, we made napkin holders. We even got to use the electric drill to make the holes for the dowels, which held the bar that lies across the napkins.

4- Using collections of shells and driftwood, coins, and toy cars, to learn about what makes a good still life photo. We also used scrapbook paper for the backdrop of our photos.

Miss Kathy sent us home with the meals on wheels community service craft for Thanksgiving. They need to be brought back to her by November 20th, so he can get them out for the thanksgiving meal. We haven’t decided on a date and plan for our December meeting as of yet.

     

Lucky Leaf – Meredith Timmons, Reporter
The November meeting for the Lucky Leaf 4-H Club was held on November 5 2020. There were 10 members that attended including Clovers. Lily led the 4-h pledge and Ashley led the American pledge. Our club leader (Ms. Melody) explained all of the 4-H updates. Ashley motioned to adjourn the November meeting and Elise second the motion. After our business meeting, we made Christmas Cards for Heroes overseas.

Dublin Hill – Logan Jackson, Reporter
Our November meeting was called to order at 7:06pm by President, Devon Allen.  This was our first in-person meeting and it was held at the Bridgeville Fire Hall Annex.  It was so nice to see everyone!  For old business, we discussed the Pumpkin Contest and Achievement Event.  We also talked about our Craft Day that the Marquez family hosted in their driveway.  We made tie dye items, a scarecrow craft and a beaded craft for the Fair!

For new business, we discussed donating items for Operation Christmas Child and making cards for soldiers.  We also made over 200 pipe cleaner candy canes to be donated to the Cheer Center.  Our December meeting will be December 10.  All members need to bring a canned food donation and a present for a senior citizen.  We will also each be making six ornaments to be used over the holidays and to enter in the State Fair!  We can’t wait to be together in person again!

Harbor Lights – Zoe Cunningham, Reporter
The Harbor Lights’ Meeting was held on November 9, 2020 at 6:30 pm over Zoom. This was our first meeting led by our new president, Olivia Goehringer, who did a fantastic job. Because our club can’t meet in person yet, we decided to create our own project in an effort to encourage our fellow members during these hard times. Our club leader introduced the Tag Your It project. A letter was sent around to every family in the club and we had to write an encouraging note to the next family until every family had received one. I would say it was a success. The Harbor Lights junior leaders also just did our first Adopt A Highway of the year. We helped to protect our environment by picking up the trash on the road. For this month’s meeting, each member had to come with a prepared commercial advertising a product of our choice in order to keep our performance arts skills up to par. We plan to have our next meeting on December 13, 2020 at 4 pm where we will have our annual Christmas gift exchange. We are all very excited!

Sunset Branch – Lillette Hastings, Reporter
Sunset Branch 4-H club is a place where kids and teenagers have an opportunity to learn important things like public speaking and responsibility.  On November 15th, the Sunset Branch 4-H club met in person for the first time since quarantine.  The meeting started at 4:00pm.  Zoe led the American Flag pledge and Talia led the 4-H pledge.  At the meeting, there were discussions about junior council zoom meetings, an upcoming talent show, a gratitude challenge, animal science and horse project zooms, and the upcoming Wreaths Across America event.  Nicco, Talia, and Demetrius are going to donate the foods everyone brought for the Thanksgiving Food Drive to the food bank.  After the discussions ended, everyone got to make their table’s poster, which had the members’ names and the title they created on it.  They also got to decorate their posters however they wanted.  The meeting ended at 5:00pm, and everyone went home looking happy to see everyone again.

Sussex Jr. Council – Carter Bradley, Reporter
At the November 2nd  Junior Council Meeting, many Events, both old and new were discussed. Some of the important upcoming events are the Santa Calls, which will be done over Zoom this year and is scheduled for Monday, December 14. There are also many National 4-H events scheduled virtually this year. These are the Healthy Living Summit, scheduled for February 11-14, applications are due by December 15th, the Agri-Science Summit, scheduled for March 3-7, applications for this are due by January 9th, and the Conference, scheduled for April 10-15 the application is due by December 15th as well. Another important announcement is that the University of Delaware and all of its Staff will be closed and unreachable unless it is an emergency from December 21st through January 1st.
