Younger Member Weekend – 2013

“Hear Ye, Hear Ye” Forty-five campers enthusiastically traveled to “Medieval Times” at Cape Henlopen State Park where they participated in the 41st annual Younger Member Weekend.  Campers gathered at The Round Table for registration.  The King, Travis Waller and The Jester, Jonah Vincent greeted campers.  The Saxons, Welsh, British, and Irish people proceeded to dorms where they were greeted by Knights, Squires, Lords, and Ladies, group leaders for the weekend.  After orientation and ice breakers, groups rotated to five educational and fun classes.  Tie-Dyed bandanas and Shields of Honor were the projects completed in Craft class;  History Class included hands on learning about stained glass windows and a relay race about the jobs of boys and girls in medieval times; Recreation Class recreated games like Capture the Sword;  Camelot Class taught campers about Council Circle and important songs, scouting reports, and each group created a song, skit and yell.  Mike Love conducted a Bike Safety course for the campers as well.  There was time for recreation, relaxing and Camelot Training (practice for the evening festivities).  After a delicious dinner prepared by chaperones and leaders, the group headed to Council Circle, Dance/Party, and Game Room.  Campers enjoyed doing the limbo, watching counselor entertainment and eating sundaes. After reflections of the day, campers retired to the dorms and preparation for bed.

Sunday, was a beautiful warm and sunny day.  Campers packed gear, cleaned the dorms and headed to breakfast at the Round Table.  Chaperones again had done a great job with the meal preparation.   Everyone enjoyed breakfast and morning reflections.  After the closing assembly games, parents arrived to transport campers home.
