Clover Knights – Brooke Elliott & Braelyn Hellens, Club Reporters
Our club is off to a very busy start!!  First, we would like to congratulate our new club officers for the 2019-20 4-H year.  They are Emma Sparpaglione-President, Ashlyn Elliott-Vice President, Kate Rohlfing-Treasurer, Abby Frost-Secretary, and Brooke Elliott and Braelyn Hellens teaming up as Club Reporters.  Our club is very excited to participate in the 4-H Healthy Challenge this year, and we’ve added a Health/Wellness team to lead the way for us.  Our Health/Wellness team is Josh and Jill Rainey and Abby Sparpaglione.

At our September meeting, we welcomed everyone by doing a team building obstacle course.  It was a great bonus activity for the 4-H Healthy Challenge. In October, we had our mum delivery and did a Fall mason jar craft. We’ve completed 3 community service projects so far…..Coastal Clean-Up, collecting for Ronald McDonald House, and Adopt-A-Highway.  Our goal this year is to complete a service project every month.  We are also very excited to have placed 2nd in the county for our window display.

We would like to welcome 8 new members to our club.  Please welcome……Alexis Phillips,Lia Tietmeyer, JP Eichten, Coleson Jestice, Vinny LaFazia, Rory Palverento, and Kasyn & Kaytin Thomas.  We love to “grow” our Clover Knights family!  That’s it for now.  Be sure to stay tuned next month for more fun and exciting things the Clover Knights are doing! Hollymount – Gianna Joella, Reporter
Our October 2019 meeting began with our usual activities, singing and dancing. Once our energetic session concluded, members that were not able to attend the Achievement Banquet were given their awards. We are all so proud of our members; Hollymount has some very talented ones! Afterwards, we began our business meeting. We discussed old business, such as the Coastal Clean-Up and the Pumpkin Contest; and new business, like the Cape Fantasy Trail Pumpkin Carving and the Card Party for Heroes. The Card Party for Heroes will be held on November 22nd. It is my favorite 4H event, and I would definitely recommend going and making some cards! When the business meeting concluded, we made crafts for Meals on Wheels. The crafts were adorable- great job, members! To conclude, this was a very fun meeting, and it felt great to give back to the community!

Harbor Lights – Zoe Cunningham, Reporter
The Harbor Lights 4-H club met for their second time this year on October 14. Our meeting was held where we discussed events that are coming up and made some decisions based on what events we will be participating in together.  We decided to attend some things like the Cards for Heroes Party and we will be decorating a Christmas tree together to donate to Delaware Hospice for the Festival of Trees and we made further plans for the Christmas play we are in the process of producing. This year our club is also attempting to meet some health requirements by having healthier options in our snacks and we also do at least 15 minutes of physical activity as a group. We’re looking forward to our upcoming events!

Cypress Heart & Hands – Madison Wells, Reporter
The Cypress Heart and Hands 4-H club held their second meeting of the 2019-2020 year on Tuesday, October 8th. The first discussion during the meeting was the Sussex County window display. After not placing in the top three, we did receive an honorable mention for our efforts. We also heard thoughts from everybody who attended the Junior Council sponsored pumpkin contest and haunted trail ; many people found the event family event fun and exciting for all ages.  Moving on, our club deliberated on upcoming community service events, such as Operation Christmas Child. Members of our club have participated in making sewing kits to donate and many are planning on visiting the OCC gift packing faculty which is Outside of Baltimore in November. Now to talk about local business, the Cypress Heart and Hands have decided to participate for another year in the Millsboro, Georgetown, Selbyville, and Gumboro Christmas parades. We plan to have all of our members help build our winter-themed float and walk in the parade. The last item of business we talked about was officers. Many new officers have filled positions, while some have stepped down. We took a vote on our new 2019-2020 officers to make sure everyone was satisfied. After adjourning the meeting, we socialized while enjoying our snack which consisted of popcorn, fruit, and water. Many members also participated in making a rice stress ball that resembled a pumpkin for October. In the end, our second meeting of the year covered many topics and brought everyone together to share their opinion.

Lord Baltimore – Cassidy White, Reporter
Our October meeting was on October 13, 2019. The meeting started with the pledges and past events like the pumpkin contest or younger members weekend. We then went on to talk about upcoming events and last month’s minutes. The next thing on the agenda was to play our activities. The first one was musical bags, which was musical chairs with bags to stand on instead of chairs to sit. The second was a game called the human pretzel. This game is when one person looks away from the group while the group tries to go from holding hands in a circle to moving about, trying to twist their bodies into a puzzle for the person to solve and get back into the circle. Along with physical health, we also served homemade applesauce and infused apple/orange water for the 4th H challenge. The last part of the meeting crafting. This was making cards for meals on wheels clients and creating pumpkins. The cards were cardboard paper that all of us decorated with stickers and signed with messages. For the pumpkin, we took a roll of toilet paper and surrounded it with a cloth-like paper. We then added a paper stem and fake leaves to the pumpkin. This is how the October meeting happened for Lord Baltimore Helping Hands club.
