Agent Letter: November 2015

fall leaves2Hello 4-H Family,

November brings beautiful fall colors and cooler weather. Daylight savings time ends on November 1, so be sure to turn your clocks back! This month also brings Veterans Day, The Great American Smoke Out, and Thanksgiving.

Sussex 4-H was very busy in October with the following events:

  • Achievement Event – Thank you to all clubs who participated!
  • Window Displays – 10 Clubs participated in this annual contest. Check out the winners and photos in this newsletter!
  • Paper Clover Fundraiser – 4-H members, friends, and families were encouraged to participate
  • Pumpkin Contest/Haunted Trail – 137 4-H’ers decorated pumpkins and over 250 attended the event
  • Fall Retreat – 32 campers and 10 counselors enjoyed games, a campfire, smores, crafts, and more!

November 4-H events include a Holiday Card Party for Heroes on Friday, November 13 at 6:30 pm, Sewing Workshops at the REC on November 18, 21, and 22.  International Foods and the Talent Show, along with an Exchange Trip Silent Auction will take place on Saturday, November 21 at 6:00 pm.  The final fall Archery Shoot will take place on Sunday, November 22 at 2:00 pm at the REC.  Delaware 4-H will send a delegation of teens to Atlanta, GA to participate in National Club Congress from November 28-December 2. Sussex delegates are:  Shawn Mitchell and Laurie Wroten.

The Sussex 4-H Staff is growing!  Tiffany Gravenor has joined the team as a Program Assistant.  Tiffany is a Sussex 4-H alumni and brings a vast amount of knowledge and excitement to the program.  She recently helped with the Pumpkin Contest and Fall Retreat and will be helping with Jr. Council, 4-H Afterschool and other events and activities throughout the 4-H year.  Please give her a warm welcome when you meet her at the next 4-H event!

Please be sure to read all the posts in our newsletter/blog and be sure to mark your calendars with all of the exciting 4-H activities!

I hope you enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and loved ones. Take a few moments to think of all your blessings. We have much to be thankful for!  Looking forward to seeing you at the next 4-H event!
Yours in 4-H,
