The State 4-H Camp Newsletter and Application has been mailed to all Sussex 4-H’ers who turned in enrollment forms to our office. Please click the links above or view the state website to review this information. Age requirements are based on 4-H age as of June 1, 2015. Applications must be completed and mailed to the State 4-H Office per the instructions provided with the application, but no sooner than March 1st, with payment in full to be accepted. Please do not mail them to the Sussex County 4-H Office, as this will delay their arrival to the State 4-H Office.

Application to National 4-H Congress 2015 – Due May 1
National 4-H Congress is one of the premiere experiences for 4-H members across the country to participate in. For ninety-two years, members of the 4-H program have been gathering to celebrate the successes and accomplishments of 4-H at this event. National 4-H Congress provides a life-changing experience for youth to meet other 4-H members from across America, as they participate in educational workshops focusing on diversity, cultural experiences, leadership, team development, and of course having fun!

The 2015 National 4-H Congress will take place November 27 – December 1.  Application forms are due to the county offices by May 1. The updated forms are on the State 4-H website.

Volunteers Needed!  4‐H Spring Farm Tours ‐ Green Acres Farm, Lewes
Tuesday, May 12 through Thursday, May 14, 2015
Join 4‐H families, volunteers, Cooperative Extension agents and staff, and the Hopkins Family along with over 1,000 local students from preschool through grade two for this highly anticipated tour of Delaware’s largest dairy farm!  This is the perfect opportunity for 4-H members to showcase their project animal and share knowledge.  Adult and Teen Volunteers are needed, and always appreciated!

Scholarship Oppportunities

• Delaware Farm Bureau Scholarship – Due April 13, 2015
  The Delaware Farm Bureau Women’s Committee awards four scholarships annually.  They award (1) $2,500 Ag Scholarship to a student who is majoring in the agricultural profession and plans a career in the agriculture field after graduation. Numerous applications are received each year for the $2,500 scholarship.  They also award (1) $1,000 scholarship to a deserving senior high school or college student in each county who plans to continue their education. After the State $1,000 winner is chosen, the remaining applications are sent back to the three county Farm Bureaus for their consideration for scholarship recognition.

• DE NAHRO Scholarship – Deadline May 1, 2015
  DE NAHRO is a professional housing non-profit that is offering a $1,000 scholarship each year for up to 4 years to a qualified graduating high school senior that is furthering their education. This is an essay contest to qualified students with an application deadline of May 1, 2015.

“Who or what has inspired you to further your education. Explain your future goals              and aspirations” is theme of the 500 essay to be eligible for this program. Other                  qualifications apply and available in the downloadable informational packet below.
