Harbor Lights – Destiny Carmona, Reporter
The Harbor Lights met on February 9, 2015 at Old Paths Church of Christ. Our meeting was called to order by President, Elise Goehringer. Pledges were led by Dakota Carmona and Marissa Timmons. Ben Ockels invited three guests, and possibly three new club members. Zoe Cunningham, Dakota Carmona, Diamond Carmona, Olivia Goehringer, Mikayla Ockles, Collin Cunningham, and myself all participated in The Public Speaking Contest. Olivia Goehringer and Mikayla Ockles both won the county level and will be competing at the state level. All our participants won blue ribbons. Under Old Business, we discussed Favorite Foods, Photography and Graphic Arts. Nathan Jefferson will be participating in the Favorite Foods Contest. Diamond Carmona, Dakota Carmona, and myself will be participating in Photography. Under New Business, we discussed that we would be casting rolls for our spring production Effigy and the Outhouse. Diamond Carmona and Marissa Timmons did a presentation on “How to Make Pink Pancakes”. After the demonstration all our club members prepared delicious pancakes and ate them together.
Hollymount – Sarah Krajewski, Reporter
Hollymount 4-H met on Thursday, February 12. We welcomed two new members and started the meeting with the pledges and group songs. We discussed the fun activities Sussex 4-H held over the past couple of months, such as Winter Fun Day, Skating party, and Public Speaking Contest. Hollymount had several members participate in the Public Speaking Contest and one of our members, Anna Lopez, won her age division. Under new business, we practiced for the Demonstration Contest. Our next meeting is March 12.
