 4-H Program Assistant Wanted
Sussex County 4-H has a job opening for a part-time Program Assistant. Please see 4-H Program Assistant – Job Description and forward on to anyone who may qualify for this position. Resumes will be accepted until February 27, 2015.

Delaware Farm Bureau Scholarship – Due April 13
The Delaware Farm Bureau Women’s Committee awards four scholarships annually.  They award (1) $2,500 Ag Scholarship to a student who is majoring in the agricultural profession and plans a career in the agriculture field after graduation. Numerous applications are received each year for the $2,500 scholarship.  They also award (1) $1,000 scholarship to a deserving senior high school or college student in each county who plans to continue their education. After the State $1,000 winner is chosen, the remaining applications are sent back to the three county Farm Bureaus for their consideration for scholarship recognition.

Antique Tractor Club Scholarship – Due April 15
The Antique Tractor Club rewards 3 $1,000.00 scholarships annually to High School Seniors who plan to major in Agriculture in college.

State Record Books – National 4-H Congress 2015
It is not too early for our 4-H teens to think about submitting a State Record Book for National Congress.  National 4-H Congress is one of the premiere experiences for 4-H members across the country to participate in.  For over 90 years, members of the 4-H program have been gathering to celebrate the successes and accomplishments of 4-H.  National 4-H Congress provides a life changing experience for youth to meet other members across the United States, as they participate in educational workshops focusing on diversity, cultural experiences, leadership, team development, and of course having fun!

This Record Book covers two project areas plus leadership and citizenship projects.  If you are interested in learning more about this process, we would like to offer a training in March.  Please contact Jill Jackson, jackson@udel.edu for more information.

With winter activities come winter weather and the possibility of cancellations.  The following are ways we notify the public of weather-related cancellations and postponements:

• Notify WMDT and WBOC.  We distinguish ourselves as Carvel Research and Education Center.  UD announcements that do not mention Carvel, such as Del Tech Campus, do not include our facility.
• A message will be left on 302-856-7303
• A message will be posted on our main Carvel website
• Notice will be posted on the Delaware 4-H Facebook page.  This will also feed directly into the Sussex County 4-H webpage.  You do not need Facebook to see the announcement feed.
