IM40 Asset Partners

Are you wondering what IM40 is, or how to become more involved?

IM40 was developed as a partnership between Aztra Zeneca, the United Way, Delaware 4-H and other partners, and is based upon the Search Institute’s research that has identified 40 assets that promote adolescent health. The goal of IM40 is to create a self-sustaining movement of professionals and volunteers who are dedicated to helping youth discover these assets and through them promote positive development and healthy behaviors. Studies show that the more assets a young person possesses, the less likely they are to engage in risky behaviors such as smoking, substance abuse, and early sexual activity and will instead make healthy lifestyle choices. These assets also promote improved health through engagement in physical fitness and a better understanding of nutrition, and help youth maintain social and emotional well-being and academic achievement.

IM40 also builds community support for adolescent health and academic performance through broadened access to health resources for youth, engagement of youth in the design and implementation of IM40 programming, and stronger community resources that support positive youth development.

If you are a 4-H leader or are affiliated with University of Delaware Cooperative Extension, you are already an Asset Champion. Please join us at one of our three meetings to learn more and expand your commitment to being an asset champion for youth.
