The 2014 4-H Summer Day Camp in Georgetown went off without a glitch. The “Wild West” theme provided 55 campers and 13 counselors with a great opportunity to learn about many different things.
Campers enjoyed learning from their counselors about foods and nutrition, dance, recreation and how to make crafts.
Thank you to the following for giving wonderful assemblies: Salisbury Zoo, Holly Anderson – Alternate DE Dairy Princess and Mike Love- Safety Relay.
During day camp, the children were able to make western themed crafts such as painted horseshoes, hand print horses, animal cracker pins, and painted bags. The campers had fun while they learned new line dances and improved their sports skills. During the foods class, campers enjoyed making afternoon snacks such as trail mix, graham cracker American Flags, dirt, cookies, and cactus juice. There was also a Water Day where campers and counselors enjoyed the slip-n-slide, relays, water fight and fun with water balloons on the parachute. The week concluded with a Closing Assembly and all groups did very well reciting their songs, skits, and yells!
Our camp would not have been a success without the hard work of our counselors and adult volunteers. We would like to thank the following 4-H’ers for giving up their time to be a counselor at our Day Camp. The counselors did an excellent job and helped the camp run smoothly. Kimberlyn Scott, Maggie Durig, Jackie Arpie, Holly Anderson, Jonah Vincent, Colleen Anderson, Nathaniel Vincent, Rebecca Arpie, Michael Hopkins, Angela Lagano, Zack Adams, Taylor Messick, and Brittany Carpenter.
We would also like to thank the 4-H staff and adult volunteers that were a great help at day camp: Jill Jackson, Rita Lofland, and Kaleb Scott.
Thank you all!
