NOTE FROM THE AGENT
Dear 4-H Family,
Happy Spring! Although the weather has had different plans, flowers and trees have started to bloom and it has been good to see the sunshine. A few special and unique celebrations during this month include: April Fool’s Day, Children’s Book Day, World Health Day, National Jelly Bean Day, Easter, and Administrative Professional’s Day.
Many Sussex 4-H members took part in March Madness, 4-H style. We are so proud of our Horse Bowl participants form the Bridgeville Mustangs and East Coast Riding Club. The East Coast teams all placed 1st in their division and the Mustangs Beginner Team placed 2nd. Way to go! Many members participated in the Woodworking and Photography Judging Contests. The results are posted in this newsletter. Twenty three teens participated in our annual Jr. Leader Weekend in Lewes. The teens learned teambuilding and leadership skills and enjoyed a warm weekend at the Children’s Beach House. On Saturday, March 22, Debbie Vanderwende worked with 5 beginner seamstresses to make a fashionable skirt. Finishing up the month, Holly Anderson, Sussex Jr. Leader, led a Dairy Judging Training and Maida Graves led Livestock Skill-a-Thon Training. A special congratulations to Hayley Bender, Bridgeville Mustangs, who was crowned 2014 Princess and Holly Anderson, Hollymount, Alternate Dairy Princess. Sussex 4-H’ers continue to make us proud! Be sure to check out our Flickr Page for photos of our latest events.
Thank you to the clubs who submitted a club report this month, please keep them coming! Be sure to submit your club news to Tammy or myself by the 25th of each month. Include a fun activity, projects completed, and photos of your club in actions. We love to see and share what each club is doing!
April will be busy with many events including: National Conference, Archery Safety Training and Shoot, Statewide Fashion Showcase, and Younger Member Weekend. Looking forward to seeing you at the next 4-H event!
Yours in 4-H,
