Seaford Blue Jays – Hannah Henderson, Reporter
The Seaford Blue Jays 4-H Club has been working hard since our last meeting. After creating our window display last month, we found out that we received honorable mention for the display. On October 26th, Brittany Carpenter, Alyssa Carpenter, Dylan Carpenter, and Hannah Henderson all participated in the Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Dylan decorated his pumpkin to look like a mummy and won first in the spooky category for his age group, and Brittany decorated her pumpkin to be a peacock and won first in her age group for the animal category. For a part of our club’s community service, many members participated in the Manor House Trick-or-Treat event. During our meeting this month, Brittany led us in making Christmas cards for soldiers as a service project. Another community service project our club has been planning is delivering Thanksgiving meals to the needy. At the meeting, we planned who we would donate the meals to and who would be making what dishes for the meals. At the end of our meeting, Jill Koski and her mom introduced us to the “Health Rocks” program with a few activities. We also drew names for “Secret Santa” for our Christmas party next month. Everyone had a great time.
Cypress Heart and Hands – Jackie Arpie, Reporter
Cypress Heart and Hands had a great November meeting. After the November meeting, the club participated in the Health Rocks when we learned about drinking. We did many activities wearing beer goggles and it was a blast. Lastly Abby Krams showed us how to make the Loom Bracelets. The Cypress Heart and Hands Club is planning on having our annual Christmas party at Grottos on December 10. We will also participate in a Secret Santa, shhhh… don’t tell anyone. Cypress will also be in the Selbyville and Salisbury Holiday Parades, our theme will be Duck Dynasty. On December 3, we will be baking cookies for Carey’s Camp Church.
Check out some of the pictures from our November meeting!
Junior Council – Rebecca Arpie, Reporter
Coming to you from Junior Council we congratulate all of the Junior Council members who helped with the tractor supply fundraiser. We talked about the Fall Overnighter and Pumpkin Contest and agreed that it was a complete success this year! We plan on having our Christmas party next meeting and hope to see everyone there!
Bridgeville Mustangs – Jenna Anger, Reporter
Did you know that Thanksgiving is the most likely day of the year to have a house fire? That’s what we learned from Nathaniel Nowell during his safety report, “Thanksgiving Safety Tips” at the Mustangs November meeting. Tanner Lecates gave an awesome demonstration “How to Change Oil in a Go Cart Motor.” Brittany Hurd presented a health report on germs. She told us what kinds of germs there are, how they affect your body, and how they spread from you to your friends. The Cloverbuds were busy making crafts, telling what they are thankful for, and learning a 4-H camp song “Go Bananas”.
We had a great turnout at the International Foods Dinner. Our members made some wonderful dishes from Germany to Jamaica to El Salvador. Our club did a dance to a remake of the song “Good Time”. It was all about 4-H and what a good time we all have by being involved in this great organization. Jaycie Kerrick made up the song lyrics and Brittany Hurd and Jenna Anger did the choreography. We worked really hard on the dance and even made shirts for the performance.
In December, our club is hosting our 3rd annual Caroling in the Park at the Bridgeville Historical Park. It is on Sunday, December 15 at 6:30 pm. Donations of new or gently used children’s books will be greatly appreciated. Hope to see you there! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
