Sunset Branch – Daniel Wisniewski, Reporter (February Meeting)
In February’s meeting, on the second, the Sunset Branch 4-H Club held a general meeting. New officers were announced. We had a guest speaker, Dr. Selba, a professor of anatomy at UMES. She put together a presentation for everyone and discussed the basics of bone structure and comparative anatomy between different animals and humans. We were also able to hold and look at several different bones from all kinds of animals. Talia put together a new food activity for us as well. We made a simple sugar cookie mixture and learned about table settings, followed by a game of bingo using fruits and vegetables. Many of the younger members and older members were working together. We then had a community service activity where we used tennis balls and old shirts to make dog toys, which would be donated to the SPCA.
The Wiffle Ball tournament was continued with the two teams facing off in the finals! The ceramics group met up as well and worked on making clay animals and pinch pots. Donations were brought together to make bags to donate to the homeless shelter consisting of toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and other hygienic items. Upcoming events are the State Teen conference; many of our members are looking forward to it! The Favorite Foods Contest is on March 1st, quite a few members of the club are participating.
Hollymount – Francesca Joella, Reporter
We started off our March meeting with our pledges, the secretary’s report, and the treasurer’s report. As for old business, many camp spots for State Camp and Environmental Camp have filled up extremely fast! March 15 was Beach Grass Planting. Since the summer months are rapidly approaching, our new business includes many exciting events. State Fair entries open on April 1. April 5 will be Fair Fest from 10am to 2pm at Carvel in Georgetown. April 16 and April 17 will be the Demonstration Contest, but you must register for it by April 4. April 25 is the registration deadline for Legislative Day on May 7. The Statewide Semi Formal will be on April 12 at Harrington at the Knutsen’s barn. Those aged 13 and up are welcome to come and may bring a guest, and you must register for it by March 31. In addition to our old and new business at our meeting, we also went over the photography skills contest. Our very own Irish Dancers of Hollymount also planned a special something for our meeting. It was a great night! Our next meeting will be on April 10.

Spring is Here! During this 4-H meeting, we learned about the demonstration contest. We also enjoyed some movement time outside while singing “Hey Burrito.” This song is a favorite for the older members and Cloverbuds. We also learned about upcoming events such as the Wild Clovers meeting, Jr leader weekend, Fair Fest, and the demonstration contest. Each member had great ideas for the topic they could share at the demonstration contest. Our club is looking forward to the litter barrel contest again this year!
Since our last meeting, 4-H has had many activities, such as the Favorite Foods contest and State Teen Conference. Some of our members participated in these events. We all enjoy 4-H and the fun activities. Spring is a great time to do activities!
Lord Baltimore – Cassidy White, Reporter
Lord Baltimore Helping Hands March meeting was held on March 9, 2025. The meeting started with the American and 4-H pledges. Then we discussed old businesses like the favorite foods contest, where many of our members participated and did well, along with the craft make-and-take fundraiser held there where we raised $27 for Shepherd’s Office food. We also talked about new business such as the various camps offered, the State Fair, Legislative Day, and the possibility of a yard sale fundraiser. Next, we transitioned to the lesson of the day, where Ms. Kathy talked about financial literacy with fun facts about money and how to spot whether a dollar was real or not. Then we split up to do activities related to the topic with the older members working on posters about financial literacy that can be put in the fair and the Cloverbuds looking at different coins to understand what kind of information they provide. The meeting ended with a healthy snack of fruit and the date for our next meeting.
