RE: 2024 HEALTH CERTIFICATES FOR YOUTH LIVESTOCK EXHIBITORS

It’s show season, and all your favorite shows and expos are just around the corner! Health cer􀆟ficates are required for any animal leaving the State of Delaware. A licensed veterinarian must issue them, and they are valid for only 30 days. To serve our livestock community and maintain efficiency, the Delaware Department of Agriculture only provides health cer􀆟ficates to youth livestock exhibitors traveling to out-of-state shows and expos.

The Delaware Department of Agriculture will only issue health certificates on the dates and times listed below:
• Tuesday, May 14, from 8:30 – 11 a.m. or 3 – 5:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, June 11, from 8:30 – 11 a.m. or 3 – 5:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, July 16, from 8:30 – 11 a.m. or 3 – 5:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, August 13, from 8:30 – 11 a.m. or 3 – 5:30 p.m.
You must RSVP for an inspection date and provide the requested information using our online form at https://de.gov/animalhealthcertificate. You will need to set aside 10 minutes to complete the form. Please read each question carefully.

If you cannot atend the dates and times listed above, please contact a veterinarian using the atached resource guide to schedule an appointment. The veterinarians in the resource guide have agreed to be listed, currently service large-animal clientele, and offer inspections for health certificates as one of their services. This guide serves as a resource only and is not an endorsement of any kind by the Delaware Department of Agriculture. All livestock owners are encouraged to develop a relationship with a licensed veterinarian for routine and emergency care.

All inspections will be held at the Delaware Department of Agriculture office at 2320 S DuPont Hwy, Dover, DE. Before arriving at DDA, please ensure all livestock have legible official identification. Official identification includes RFID tags, 840 tags, scrapie tags, microchips, and tatoos. If your animal has a tatoo, all tatoo characters must be legible, and you must bring registration paperwork. If the show you plan to atend requires specialized testing, you must bring the lab results for review, as the Department of Agriculture does not provide testing.
Please note If you are an adult livestock exhibitor, plan to sell livestock to out-of-state buyers, or transport livestock out of Delaware for any reason, please contact one of the veterinarians listed in the attached resource guide.
