JOANN Fabrics: March 3 – May 4 (Stores in Dover and Newark)

Join Joann Fabrics for their seventh-annual JOANN point-of-sale campaign! Customers can donate or round-up at checkout in JOANN stores to support 4-H.  JOANN is experiencing some financial challenges, so we are thrilled that they have agreed to partner for another three-year term. Over the past three years, we have seen a dramatic increase in the campaign results and in the funds going to your local programs, from a total of $116,000 raised in 2021 to a record-breaking $1.28 million raised in 2023.

National 4-H Congress – Applications and Record Book due May 1 to your county office

National 4-H Congress is one of the premiere experiences for 4-H members across the country to participate in. Since 1922, members of the 4-H program have been gathering to celebrate the successes and accomplishments of 4-H at this event. National 4-H Congress provides a life-changing experience for youth to meet other 4-H members from across America, as they participate in educational workshops focusing on diversity, cultural experiences, leadership, team development, and of course having fun!

 

Scholarship Opportunities
Delaware 4-H Foundation Scholarship – Due May 1 (More information found on the next pages!)

The Delaware 4-H Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed to manage private funds in support of the 4-H youth development program in Delaware. As an educational organization, the foundation encourages young adults to pursue education and training beyond high school. In recognition of continued 4-H leadership, funds are available to support one or more scholarships offered for Delaware 4-H members to pursue higher education.

Milton Garden Club Scholarships – Due April 30, 2024
2024 Application – $3,000 High School Scholarship

The Milton Garden Club is now accepting applications for the Milton Garden Club High School Scholarship.  The number of scholarships awarded is based on the number of qualified applicants.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Applicants must be graduating high school seniors pursuing post-secondary education in any of the fields of study listed below and legal residents of Sussex County, Delaware.

CRITERIA:

  • Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the study of landscape or ornamental horticulture; plant science including sustainable landscapes, production horticulture, plant pathology, plant biology and genetics, soils and environmental quality; landscape design and architecture; agribusiness marketing and management or another similar related field.
  • Applicants will be judged on the following criteria:
  1. Financial need
  2. Scholastic Achievement
  3. Community service, leadership and activities in and out of school
  4. Application appearance, organization and completeness

The application deadline is APRIL 30, 2024.  The completed application package should be returned to the school guidance office or mailed to: Milton Garden Club, Inc.,

c/o Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 203, Milton, DE 19968 and must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2024.  Applications can be submitted up to and including the April 30th deadline.

First State Antique Tractor Club Scholarship – Due April 15
The First State Antique Tractor Club offers yearly scholarships to graduating seniors, on the Delmarva Peninsula, for the purpose of continuing education, in the field of agriculture.
The scholarships will be awarded to a full-time student, accepted in an agriculture program at a two- or four-year university or college. All applications must be received by April 15th. All applicants must show financial need and academic merit. An independent panel processes the applications and makes the selections.  The amount of the award/awards will be determined by the Scholarship Committee of The First State Tractor Club. Four (4) $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded this year.
