Seaford Blue Jays – Olivia Shultie, Reporter
Our November meeting was held at the American Legion. We welcomed 2 new members, Ryker and Haakon during this meeting. Club President, Seth Genshaw, began the meeting with the pledges. We recognized members that participated in the Pumpkin Contest, Embrey & Caydance Means, Paloma & Zipporah Rolph, and Janet Shultie.
We discussed our fall club trip to Barn Hill Preserve. Everyone had the best time learning about the animals. This was such a special day!
We discussed upcoming events including making deserts for the military, the Seaford Christmas Parade, and our Secret Santa exchange. Several members plan to make a dish for International Foods. We had a club craft event with pizza for dinner. Everyone made embellished flip flops and 6 themed Christmas ornaments. We had a wonderful time together!
Hollymount – Gianna Joella, Reporter
We began Hollymount’s November meeting by putting American flags on the graves of veterans at Conley’s Cemetery for Veteran’s Day. After that concluded, we had pizza for dinner before beginning our business meeting. It was a busy business meeting- and an informative one! Our members were given information about completing project books, along with a demonstration as we began working on ours during the meeting. We also learned about the Diamond Clover along with working on the form for it. Finally, our Cloverbuds were taught essential 4-H information, such as a few of our popular songs and lines to the pledges. This meeting was a great way to learn, or be refreshed on, important 4-H information.
Sussex County Jr. Council – Cole Carpenter, Reporter
Sussex County Junior Council has had a busy October & November. In October we hosted a “Haunted Wedding Garden Trail” during the Pumpkin contest. There was a “distress the dress” meeting where we made costumes from old dresses and dress shirts, a mosquito-frenzied garden planning meeting, and a pumpkin carving meeting leading up to the event. Thank You to all of the cast members and volunteers that helped make the event a success. We had a visit from Doug Crouse who shared his years of 4-H motivation with us and inspired us to become more active in our community and county events. This prompted a “Giving Tree” community service activity at our November meeting. Carter Bradley made ornaments that each had wishes from a local Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade student less fortunate for the holidays. Teens partnered up to pick an ornament and will fulfill Christmas wishes for each child. We also collected $395 in gift cards to donate in “A Few of Our Favorite Things” Spaghetti Dinner basket donation. Rachel O’Day lead an ice breaker activity, Ainsley West gave the Secretary report, Ashlyn Elliott gave the Treasurer report and President Kyle Kerr informed us of upcoming events including the Spaghetti dinner, Operation Christmas Child, Cards for Heroes, Santa Calls, & Diamond Clover intent forms. December’s meeting will continue our Community Service Project with wrapping the gifts as well as our “White Elephant” activity lead by Junior Leader officers. Lord Baltimore – Cassidy White, Reporter
The Lord Baltimore Helping Hands monthly meeting was held on Veterans Day, November 11, 2022. The meeting started with the American and 4-H pledges, with families bringing donations for the spaghetti dinner basket as they came in. We then discussed old business, such as the Millville Trail of Treats, Dagsboro Night Out, and the Pumpkin Contest, where our club had two winners. Next up were the upcoming events including the Card Party for Soldiers, the Spaghetti Dinner, ringing bells for the Salvation Army, International Foods, and our Bowling Fundraiser. We also talked about the Grants that we have received and submitted. Afterward, we did our health activity led by Wyatt about dental hygiene and tested the knowledge that we had. Then it was time to work on our outdoor adventure project, which was about how to identify leaves and the different types there are. While doing this activity we also had a healthy snack prepared by Ruby which was a fruit turkey made from pear, grapes, and chocolate chips. Next was our community service project for Meals on Wheels by making thanksgiving themed placemats. We ended the meeting by creating a Christmas ornament from a branch and tying pieces of fabric onto it to make a tree. This was our November club meeting.
Harbor Lights – Gianna Nagle, Reporter
The Harbor Lights 4-H Club held its monthly meeting on November 17 at Old Paths Church of Christ. Once our meeting was in session, we discussed old news and upcoming events. Our club donated four cakes and a gift basket to the spaghetti dinner, and we made 20 stockings for the Sussex County foster tweens. We also worked on our upcoming Christmas play. Finally, our club shared a healthy snack made by Brooke Martin. Join us on December 10 at 6 PM to see the Harbor Lights Christmas play.
Bridgeville Mustangs- Cameron Hale, Reporter
The Bridgeville Mustangs’ November meeting began with our pledges, led by Cole Carpenter and Austin Jewel. Then, our Old and New Business was listed and talked about by Vice President Carter Bradley. Our club contribution to the annual Spaghetti Dinner is shopping gift cards. The title was “Have a Ball Shopping” with cards placed on ball ornament and hung on a Christmas tree. Many of our Junior Leaders will be setting up and serving food at the dinner. After the meeting was over, we did a fun 4-H for Health challenge where we played Musical Ducks. Musical Ducks (like Musical Chairs), a game where you must grab a duck instead of sitting in a chair and exercising while you walk around the circle. It was super fun, and the winner was Juliette Anger. Lots of bruised knees diving for the little ducks. Our Woodworking Project Group will be continuing our letter/napkin holders – a project book article that can be entered at the State Fair. Overall, it was a very awesome meeting and I am looking forward to the next one.
