Club News: December 2019

To begin our November meeting, we continued our tradition of singing and dancing. When we concluded our physical activity, we began our business meeting. There, we discussed our past and upcoming events and contributed information about our past experiences with those events. It is always interesting to hear what our members liked about them. Next, we were each given a stocking that we were able to decorate! It was fun to get creative and design our own stockings. We then filled them with items generously donated by our members, doing our best to put as much as we could in each one. Those stockings were then donated to soldiers for the holidays! It felt great to give back, and our members certainly worked hard to do their share! Our members that will be attending the Talent Show and International Foods then practiced their skit to perform. It sounded hilarious and I’m so excited to hear about it! Overall, this was an extremely fun meeting, and it always feels nice to help people.

Our meeting was held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. We began our meeting by gathering outside the Calloway’s barn so Janet could show us her horse Ginger. We talked about the horseshoes and what some of the terms are when showing a horse.  We played a game where we had to figure out and line up according to each person’s birthday for a healthy activity. We did a Candlelight Instillation of Officers Ceremony that was led by President Jake. During the ceremony, we agreed to promote participation, communication and rededicate ourselves to the promise of the 4H pledge. We discussed coastal clean up and the awards banquet. Mrs. Jacalyn shared that she won the Joy Sparks Award and Ms. Garan Calloway was inducted into Links. We reviewed the bylaws and concluded the meeting with a beaded craft provided by the Shulties while eating a healthy snack.

Our meeting was held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Seaford Library. We began with discussing the pumpkin contest and the fall overnighter. Jake won the prize money in the scary category and Janet won the prize money in the animal category for her entry. It was exciting to hear that our club won 3rd place in the window display contest. We participated in the Montessori School Festival to promote our club and teach healthy food habits. Our club volunteered at the Manor House to help theelderly hand out candy to the children. To show our gratitude to the library we decided to donate money. Our club is excited to participate in making pies to donate to Home of Hope for Thanksgiving. The meeting was concluded with making a Christmas wreath provided by Embrey Means.
