Hello everyone! Our last meeting was very busy! I hope everyone had fun! The Lucky Leaf and Little Creek Clovers did a fun Valentine’s craft. We have two birthdays this month, Miss Melody and Lauren.  Awesome job to Ashley , Elise ,and Noel at the public speaking contest! Congratulations to Meredith for participating in the archery shoot in Lancaster, PA. We discussed the upcoming events: The Spaghetti dinner ,Favorites Foods Contest, Photo Graphic Arts Contest, Sussex County Demonstrations Contest, State 4H Camp dates, and The Delaware Indoor Archery Championship.  The fun things we are going to do is making cookies for Delmar’s First Responders. Elise presented her project book cooking demonstration and made delicious chocolate cherry scones. The meeting was concluded with a healthy snack from Meredith and Samantha Timmons.  The next meeting is Thursday, March 7, 2019!

After our usual energetic activities, we began our business meeting. There, we discussed past events, like the Public Speaking Contest; and upcoming events, like the Bagging Event and the Spaghetti Dinner. Once our meeting concluded, we split into three groups to circulate through the different stations. The first station my group visited prepared us for the Demonstration Contest. We learned about the requirements of the contest and tips on how to present! We then were matched with partners and given a topic to present on. After preparing a “script” for a few moments and discussing our presenting strategy, it was time to present to our group! Once we had finished at that station, we learned how to correctly mount pictures for the Graphic Arts Contest and State Fair. We were told the correct way to place them on the mat, and we learned which information to include on the back. After that, we went to a station that prepared us for the Favorite Foods Contest. There, we learned about different kinds of knives; how to correctly present food; how to measure ingredients; and learned the definition of many items in the kitchen. This was a very informative meeting and definitely helped us prepare for the events!

Harbor Lights – Kate Cunningham
The Harbor Lights 4H club last met on February 11, 2019. Everyone involved in the recent events in 4H such as the teen conference, had lots of fun and learned a lot. After discussing exciting upcoming events in our meeting, we planned a babysitting fundraiser. After the meeting, we studied and prepared for the Favorite Foods tests by making cookies together and learning the correct way to measure. Everyone participating in Favorite Foods in our club brought the dishes that will be made and brought to the contest. They were all delicious and we are very excited to be able to attend Favorite Foods and the upcoming events that 4-H has to offer.

Our last fundraiser was very successful so we are looking forward to having the same results.
