Agent Letter: March 2019

Dear 4-H Families,

What a cold and windy February we had!  I know many will agree with me that they are ready for spring and warmer temperatures. Daylight savings time begins on Sunday, March 10. Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour!

THANK YOU is not enough to say for all the support that was felt at our 4th Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Auction!  From the donors and guests to the volunteers who helped make this event a success!  We appreciate each one of you! As you may have known, Touch of Italy in Lewes donated all of the pasta, sauce and bread for our event.  They could not say enough about how helpful and polite our members were who helped with the event.  Thank you for showing what great leaders 4-H produces!

The 4-H world is gearing up with many activities and events.  On March 2, many 4-Hers and their families will participate in the Favorite Foods Contest along with Foods & Nutrition Judging, Crafts, and much more!   4-H members will be busy on Saturday, March 9, at the State 4-H Horse Bowl. Sunday, March 10, is the first Archery Shoot for the spring.  Be sure to sign up to participate in this event.  The Photography and Wood Science Judging Contests have been scheduled for Wednesday, March 13 and the Demonstration Contest will be held on March 13 and 14.  Make up dates for judging contests are also available if you cannot attend on March 13.  Jr. Leader Weekend will take place March 22-24.  The State 4-H Indoor Archery Championship will be held on March 30.

Congratulations to our Sussex Salute to Excellence Winners.  Heather Smith, Milford 4-H Club Leader, received the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award.  Amy West, Hollymount 4-H Club Leader, received the Volunteer of the Year Award.  Amy also will go on to compete as the regional recipient for Volunteer of the Year. Thank you, ladies for all of your help and hard work!

A Friendly Reminder – Please be sure to submit your club news by the 25th of each month.  Include a fun activity, projects completed, and photos of your club in actions.  We love to see and share what each club is doing!

Looking forward to seeing you at the next 4-H event!

Yours in 4-H,
