Weather Alert
With winter activities come winter weather and the possibility of cancellations. The following are ways we notify the public of weather-related cancellations and postponements:
- Notify WMDT and WBOC. We distinguish ourselves as Carvel Research and Education Center. UD announcements that do not mention Carvel, such as Del Tech Campus, do not include our facility.
- A message will be left on 302-856-7303
- A message will be posted on our main Carvel website
- Notice will be posted on the Delaware 4-H Facebook page.
Robotics Club
The Robotics Club will meet the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month at the REC Annex at 6:00 pm
*Only meeting on December 7 due to the holidays*
Dairy Club
The Dairy Club meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Carvel Center at 6:30 pm.
Sussex Small Engines Workshops – Are held the third Wednesday of the month from 7:00-9:00 pm. Workshops are located in Bridgeville at the Del-Tech ITPC Building. This building is located behind Woodbridge Middle School (307 Laws St. Bridgeville). Contact Tom Molnar, 609-947-5313, for more information.
Scholarship Opportunities

- National Wild Turkey Federation’s (NWTF) Academic Scholarship Information & Application ~ Deadline 1/1/19. There will be a $500 scholarship for each of the three counties in Delaware; and one person will be selected to receive the state $1000 scholarship, for a total of four scholarships for the state of Delaware.
The National Scholarship Winner will receive up to $10,000. - Delaware Equine Council Foundation Scholarship ~ Deadline 1/31/19
Award: $2,000 scholarship. Awarded in March 2019 at annual scholarship banquet/fundraiser. - Daisy 4-H Shooting Sports Scholarship ~ Deadline 4/30/19
- Delaware Scholarship Compendium – A guide for college-bound students that includes scholarships listed by deadlines and alphabetically. This can be found on the State 4-H website: http://extension.udel.edu/4h/academic-scholarships/
Delaware 4-H Foundation and United Way
The Delaware 4-H Foundation is not a United Way agency but is eligible to receive write-in contributions as a non-profit. If you and other 4-H friends and supporters would like to designate your United Way contribution to 4-H, go to the write-in account section of the United Way form. Use the number 9020 and Delaware 4-H Foundation to designate your donation to 4-H. The address is 113 Townsend Hall, 531 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716-2210. Funds received in this manner become part of the contributions to 4-H. All contributions are acknowledged by the Delaware 4-H Foundation when United Way notifies us of the pledge. We appreciate your continued support of 4-H!

SAVE THE DATES!!
State 4-H Ice Skating Party – Saturday, December 29, 2018. Time: 5:45-7:30 pm
Location: Centre Ice Skating Center on the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington.
- Cost will be $4.00 (and a canned good) per person, which includes skate rental.
- $5 if no canned good
- $4 per person for ice bumper cars
The Centre would like to continue to hold a food drive at this event so all participants are requested to bring in a canned or boxed item of food that can be donated to the local food pantry. The State Teen Council officers will also provide a community service opportunity for particpants.
All 4-H members are invited, and they may bring a friend who is not a 4-H member, but they are responsible for this friend while at this event.
