Agent Letter: December 2018/January 2019

Dear 4-H Families,

Happy Holidays!  December is a month to celebrate the spirit of community and spend extra time with our loved ones.  Please be sure to read all the posts in the newsletter and be sure to mark your calendars with all of the exciting 4-H activities!

On November 17, over 150 4-H members and families attended the 4 Little Clovers Dinner Theatre at North Georgetown Elementary.  Members prepared delicious dishes from around the world and shared their many talents.  Be sure to read the full overview in this newsletter!

During December, many clubs will participate in holiday parades and community service activities.  I was pleased to see that five Sussex 4-H Clubs were awarded a $500 grant by the Good Ole Boy Foundation to sponsor a family of their choosing.  I can’t wait to hear how the clubs used the money to help local families. Congratulations to Clover Knights, Cozy Critters, Cypress Heart & Hands, Henlopen Clovers and Seaford Blue Jays!

It is always nice to see our 4-H members out in the community.  I recently attended the Sussex County Fire Prevention Awards Banquet and was excited to see that five Sussex 4-H members placed in the top three for their grade level in the county!  Congratulations to the following members:  Kaitlyn Johnson (Country Clovers) 3rd place, Emorie Jackson (Dublin Hill) 3rd place, Brooke Terhune (Hollymount) 3rd place, Bradley Tomeski (Dublin Hill) 1st place and Samuel Winston (Winston family) 1st place.  Bradley and Samuel will now go on to the State Level.  Congratulations to you all!

Upcoming events include:  Santa Calls, State Skating Party, Winter Fun Day and Public Speaking Contest!

I hope you enjoy this holiday season with your loved ones.  As we look forward to the New Year 2019, set your sights high and try new things.  There are sure to be many wonderful opportunities to explore!

Yours in 4-H,
