Weather Alert

With winter activities come winter weather and the possibility of cancellations.  The following are ways we notify the public of weather-related cancellations and postponements:

  • Notify WMDT and WBOC.  We distinguish ourselves as Carvel Research and Education Center.  UD announcements that do not mention Carvel, such as Del Tech Campus, do not include our facility.
  • A message will be left on 302-856-7303
  • A message will be posted on our main Carvel website
  • Notice will be posted on the Delaware 4-H Facebook page.  This will also feed directly into the Sussex County 4-H webpage.  You do not need Facebook to see the announcement feed.

East Coast 4-H Horse Club – Horse Bowl Interest Meeting
East Coast will be hosting a Horse Bowl Interest meeting on Thursday, December 14 at 6:00 pm at the Carvel Center.  Teams will be formed and coaches selected.  If you have any questions, please contact Jodie Gravenor:  236-5541.

Robotics Club
The Robotics Club will meet the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month at the REC Annex at 6:00 pm
*Only meeting on December 8 due to the holidays*

Dairy Club
The Dairy Club meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Carvel Center at 6:30 pm

Sussex County 4-H Tech ClubOpen to all 4H’ers and those interested in having fun doing tech projects. The Sussex County 4-H Tech club will be meeting on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 5:00 – 6:30 PM starting in September. We will again be meeting at the Bridgeville Public Library. We will be doing projects with a focus on Electrical, Computers, Mechanical, 3D design and printing. Delaware 4-H Foundation and United Way
The Delaware 4-H Foundation is not a United Way agency but is eligible to receive write-in contributions as a non-profit.  If you and other 4-H friends and supporters would like to designate your United Way contribution to 4-H, go to the write-in account section of the United Way form.  Use the number 9020 and Delaware 4-H Foundation to designate your donation to 4-H.  The address is 113 Townsend Hall, 531 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE  19716-2210.  Funds received in this manner become part of the contributions to 4-H.  All contributions are acknowledged by the Delaware 4-H Foundation when United Way notifies us of the pledge.  We appreciate your continued support of 4-H!

SAVE THE DATES!!

State 4-H Ice Skating Party – Friday, December 29, 2017.  Time:  5:00-7:00 pm

Location:  Centre Ice Skating Center on the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington.

  • Cost will be $4.00 per person, which includes admission and skate rental.
  • $8/person for ice bumper cars

The Centre would like to continue to hold a food drive at this event so all participants are requested to bring in a canned or boxed item of food that can be donated to the local food pantry.  All 4-H members are invited, and they may bring a friend who is not a 4-H member, but they are responsible for this friend while at this event.
