The Sussex Country Jr. Council meeting was brought to order by our president, Shawn Mitchell, on November 6, 2017. The meeting began with the pledges, which was followed by secretary’s report approved by Madison Rice and the treasurer’s report approved by Alyssa Thawley. Old business topics that were discussed included National 4-H Week, the Junior Leader Retreat, the archery shoot, the Pumpkin Contest and Haunted Trail, and the Younger Member Fall Overnighter. Moreover, new business topics that were discussed included the YAP Conference, the Card party for Heroes, International Dinner-Talent Show/Silent Auction, Diamond Clover Intent forms, National 4-H Club Congress, the Alumni Challenge, and National 4-H applications. Kaleb Scott then provided county updates, and it was decided that the December meeting would be a Christmas party with food and a gift exchange. Get ready to have some fun Jr. leaders!

Lord Baltimore Helping Hands – Ruby DiSabatino, Reporter
At our November meeting, Cassidy and Ruby led our exercise game where we took turns picking a slip of paper that said something like “If you have a brother or sister…” and then we spun a spinner that told us what action to do and how many times.

Next, we made ornaments using a dough of applesauce and cinnamon.  We used rolling pins and Christmas cookie cutters, and then baked them at a really low temperature.  We’ll use them for decorations on the wreath and Christmas tree we’re decorating for Delaware Hospice.

Then, we also made napkin holders out of construction paper and silk flowers and leaves for the Ocean View Meals on Wheels clients, for their Thanksgiving feast.

As everyone left, we had them take a bag of rocks to decorate and leave in different places to spread sunshine throughout the community.

We’ll meet at Miss Kathy’s on Mon., Nov.20 to decorate the Hospice tree and wreath.  Our next meeting will be Sun. Dec. 3 for our annual family potluck supper and Christmas party.
