Seaford Blue Jays – Ivy Genshaw, Reporter
The Seaford Blue Jays have had their September and October 4-H meetings for the 2017-2018 year. We changed our location from Mt Olivet Church to the Seaford Public Library. In September’s meeting we went over all the club rules and made sure they were up to date. We elected our club officers and Hannah Henderson is our new president, Alyssa Thawley is vice president, Jill Koski is secretary, Seth Genshaw is treasurer, and I, Ivy Genshaw am the reporter. During this meeting we played a game called “I Did”. Everyone sits in a circle to play. The leader asks a yes or no question. If the answer to the question is yes the player moves over one seat and if not they stay still. People end up in each other’s laps. The first one back to their seat is the winner. It was tons of fun. Our club also agreed to make a window display and we brain stormed our ideas. Later we met at the library to assemble the display.
For our October meeting we discussed community service and fundraising ideas. It was announced that every member in our club had won an award or was recognized at the 4-H awards banquet. We talked about who was going to the pumpkin contest and fall overnighter and encouraged those who have never attended. For 4-H week we did complete our window display at the Seaford Public Library. It showed how 4-H grows leaders through learning and service. We had pictures of our club members doing activities that represented each of these. We also used paper clovers to symbolize hand, heart, service and health. Hannah Henderson hosted our October meeting and had each of us decorate a rock. She is setting up a Facebook page called 4-H Rocks. We will be hiding our rocks around town and when a rock is found the finder will be directed to post their finding on the 4-H Rocks Facebook page. We ended the meeting with a healthy snack and leaving the meeting room better then how we found it.

We received 2nd place on our window display. Big thanks to all that helped. Way to go clover nights outstanding job!!!!! During our meeting we gave out pins and awards recognizing everyone’s number of years in 4-H. Everyone needs to make sure they have reenrolled for the new year this is the only way you can do events. Have a great Halloween and see you all at next meeting.
Bridgeville Mustangs – Ryan Cummings, Reporter
On October 12, 2017 the October meeting for the Bridgeville Mustangs was brought to order by co-President Jenna Anger. The secretary’s report was read by Erin Carey and the treasurer’s report by Tanner LeCates. Austin Jewell led a fun song for everyone to sing along to. Old business was discussed and reports were given by club members. New business was discussed and then Meredith Carey and Kyle Kerr lead a fun health activity about stretching before exercising and playing sports. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served.
Hollymount – Gia Joella, Reporter
Our October meeting began with singing songs. Then we started our business meeting. We talked about upcoming events and listened to our Treasurer’s and our Junior Council Meeting Reporter’s reports. When we were finished, we broke up into groups for activities. While our Cloverbuds made slime, we made dog biscuits! Who knew to make a dog biscuit you simply needed pumpkin, cinnamon, eggs, and flour? When our dough was finished, we rolled it out and used our cookie cutters to shape them. They were whisked away to bake while we sang a few more songs. When the biscuits were finished, they were packed up and were donated to a local animal shelter. This was a really fun meeting, and I hope everybody enjoyed it as much as I did!
Lord Baltimore Helping Hands – Ruby DiSabatino, Reporter
At our October meeting, we welcomed 2 more new club members – Cassidy and Brynn. We had hot dogs, Pringles, Ruby’s homemade applesauce, and apple infused water. Miss Carlene congratulated the members of the club for their work in the different project areas, and also showed us the trophy we won for 3rd place in last year’s window display contest. And speaking of window display, Miss Kathy told us that our window display again won a 3rd place award. All the new club members were excited that their hard work paid off.
After the business meeting, we decorated 24 mini pumpkins for Miss Kathy’s Meals on Wheels clients. Everyone is excited about the Pumpkin Contest at Redden Lodge that is coming up. Our next club meeting is Friday, November 10.
