Bluebird Nesting Box Community Service Project

Sussex 4-H Wood Science leader Clyde Mellin has partnered with the The Nature Conservancy in Delaware to install bluebird nesting boxes at their McCabe Wildlife Refuge location outside of Milton, Delaware. Take a look:

The community service project is in two parts!

  1. Building the boxes at Mr. Mellin’s woodworking shop in Seaford on Saturday, February 11, 2017 and
  2. Installing the boxes at the McCabe site on Saturday, February 25, 2017

As with Mr. Mellin’s other wood science workshops, strict safety regulations apply.

  • A maximum of eight 4-H members
  • Parental supervision is required. Parent must stay with child during the building of the nesting boxes on Feb. 11.
  • The install portion on Feb. 25th will be filmed to show Delaware 4-H’ers involved in this wildlife habitat community service project
