Agent Letter: October 2016

best-fall-quotes-to-fill-your-season-with-excitement-9Dear Sussex 4-H Family,

Fall has finally arrived and brought many 4-H activities!  October 4-H Events include:  National   4-H Week, Window Display Contest, National 4-H Youth Science Day, Science Saturdays, Pumpkin Contest & Haunted Trail, Fall Retreat and two Archery Shoots.

Life is Sweeter in 4-H was the theme for the Achievement Event held on September 25.  Over one hundred twenty people enjoyed the awards presentations and desserts.  We continued the tradition of interactive camp songs incorporated throughout the afternoon!  The event became sweeter with each award given.  Rita Lofland, recently retired 4-H Staff Assistant, was presented with the Joy Sparks Spirit of 4-H Award.  The Sussex 4-H 2016 National 4-H Club Congress delegate is:  Rebecca Arpie.  Sussex 4-H also presented the 4-H Sprit Award to six very deserving individuals:  Madison Johnson, Austin Jewell, Matison Smith, Daniel Tull, Colleen Anderson and Bo Waller.  Congratulations to all the award recipients! More details about the program can be found further in the newsletter.

Congratulations to Garrett Smith, Milford 4-H who had the opportunity to attend the National 4-H Engineering Event at Purdue University!  He used his knowledge and skills of Lawn Tractor driving to be able to participate in this competition.  We can’t wait to hear about his experience.

Please be sure to read all the posts in the newsletter and be sure to mark your calendars with all of the exciting 4-H activities!

Leaders – Please be sure to forward all emails from the 4-H Office to your club members.  With the    4-H year just starting, we do not have all contact information and do not want any members missing out on opportunities!

Fall is a time to reflect on the past and look forward to the future!  I encourage all members, leaders, and volunteers to try new things both inside and outside of 4-H.  Participate in new events, make new friends, volunteer, market 4-H, and invite a friend to become a 4-H member.  You never know how much you will like something until you try it!

Looking forward to seeing you at the next 4-H event!

Yours in 4-H,
Jill Jackson
Extension Educator, 4-H
