Jr. Leader Weekend 2016: Recap

IMG_5089JUNIOR LEADERS Survive Teamwork with Brains, Brawn and Beauty

Twenty Seven excited Sussex Junior Leaders spent March 18-20 at the Camp Pecometh Grace House in Centreville, MD for Junior Leader Weekend.  On Friday evening – “BRAINS – The Methods Behind Teamwork” the group planned Younger Member Weekend, Mrs. Jackson announced counselors for Younger Member Weekend, and the teens had a time of fellowship with a bonfire and volleyball game, followed by a movie.

Saturday’s theme was “Brawn – Strength and Accomplishments as a Team.”  The morning activities included a Survivor style rejuvenation activity and a community service activity for AI DuPont patients.  The afternoon activities were led by Sharon Anderson and Aaron Jackson.  These two enthusiastic leaders used interactive and hands on activities to teach the group six Laws of Teamwork.  The Laws of Teamwork play off of the 21 Laws of Leadership that the teens have learned over the past four years.  The group has enjoyed learning and implementing these laws.  On Saturday evening, the group the teens danced the night away with a traditional 4-H dance.

“Beauty – The Presentation and Outcome of the Team” was the theme for Sunday.  After breakfast and reflections, threIMG_5075e high school seniors in attendance, Rachel Robb, Erryn Smith and Nathaniel Vincent were recognized for their time in Sussex County 4-H and shared with the group what 4-H has meant to them.   The teens then participated in a fun morning energizer/yoga activity.  The group clean-up of the facility concluded our stay.

Junior Leader Weekend provides counselor training and preparation for Sussex County camps.  The 2016 Surviving Teamwork:  Brains, Brawn and Beauty Weekend brought out the talents, creativity and leadership of our youth!  Be sure to look for upcoming Sussex County Camps!
