Sussex County Jr. Council – Jenna Anger, Reporter
At the February Jr. Council meeting, we discussed the fantastic time that was had by all, at the 2016 State Teen Conference. The Social Media, Bullying, and the Drugs/Alcohol workshops were very informative and gave us a lot to think about. The 87’ers basketball game was a thrill to attend. Our theme was Disney. We had Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Elsa, Jessie, Peter Pan, Wendy, Tinkerbell and Capt. Hook, to name a few, attend the dance party. Jr. Council encourages everyone 13 or older to attend the conference next year. It will be a blast!
Congrats to all that participated in the Public Speaking contest. The speeches were amazing and the judges had a tough decision. Also this month, a lot of our Jr. Council members participated and volunteered at the Favorite Foods Contest. This is always a popular event and this year was no exception. All the dishes were scrumptious and received blue ribbons.
Planning is underway for the Jr. Leader Weekend on March 18-20. Sign up and don’t be left out. This is a great way to meet other Jr. Council members, learn about leadership, and have a fun time. You will not be disappointed! Also, demonstrations will be the 9th & 10th of March. If you aren’t competing, come watch and support your fellow 4-Her’s. Mark your calendars, on April 16th for the Spaghetti Dinner and Auction fundraiser held at the Georgetown Fire hall.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!

HAPPY ( late ) VALENTINES DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On February 9th at six o’clock the Harbor Lights 4-H club met at the Carmona’s home. The meeting was called to order by our President, Elise Goehringer. Pledges were led by Ben Ockles and Marissa Timmons. Our secretary, Zoe Cunningham, led the roll call and also read the minutes.
Our club talked about Old Business including Public Speaking, Graphic Arts, and Favorite Foods. New Business was also talked about which included the Demonstration contest, Sewing Workshop, and the Spring Archery Shoots.
After the meeting the members of our club enjoyed taste testing each other’s Favorite Food dishes. Everyone did a fantastic job and the food was so good! Some of the recipes that will be entered into the Favorite Food’s Contest are Spanish rice, Chicken Chili, Peanut Butter Pie, and Mini-Cupcakes.
When that was done we all had fun in participating in the games!!!!!
