Dear 4-H Family,
Will March come in like a lion?! I know many will agree with me that they are ready for spring and warmer temperatures. Daylight savings time begins on Sunday, March 13. Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour!
The 4-H world is gearing up with many activities and events. In February, many 4-Hers and their families participated in the Favorite Foods Contest along with Foods & Nutrition Judging, Crafts, and much more! Sunday, March 6, is the first Archery Shoot for the spring. Be sure to sign up to participate in this event. 4-H members will be busy on Saturday, March 12, at the Horse Bowl. The Photography and Wood Science Judging Contests have been scheduled for Wednesday, March 9 and the Demonstration Contest will be held on March 9 and 10. Make up dates for judging contests are also available if you cannot attend on March 9. Other upcoming events include: Clothing Workshops and Jr. Leader Weekend.
Congratulations to Shawn Mitchell and Jarrett Williams who will represent Sussex 4-H at National 4-H Conference April 9-14, 2016. We also congratulate our Sussex Salute to Excellence Winners. Melissa Mitchell, Dublin Hill 4-H Club Leader, received the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award. Meredith Tipton, Rossakatum 4-H Club Leader, received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Hats off to these wonderful youth and adult leaders!
A Friendly Reminder – Please be sure to submit your club news to Tammy or myself by the 25th of each month. Include a fun activity, projects completed, and photos of your clubs in action. We love to see and share what each club is doing!
Looking forward to seeing you at the next 4-H event!
Yours in 4-H,
Jill Jackson
